Children’s Art Class

Why children’s art classes?

Arty Monkeys offer children’s art classes for all ages and abilities. We consist of art enthusiasts who are trained as teachers.

We believe students should learn the basics of art, gradually building their skills to become excellent artists. Our classes are structured to lead up to a significant project.

Arty Monkey’s ensures students grasp core skills and develop an artistic perspective. We use a mix of live objects and photos, starting with sketching and progressing to painting.

We draw, paint, and craft the same objects as great artists do to fully understand them.

The National Curriculum

The National Curriculum sometimes neglects art classes. The national curriculum emphasizes the need for a high-quality art and design education. However, many teachers lack art education, hindering your child’s skill development.

Our children’s art classes offer numerous benefits that extend beyond creativity. Art encourages self-expression, allowing children to express thoughts and feelings visually. It fosters imagination, individuality, and identity.

Art also cultivates problem-solving and critical thinking skills by encouraging experimentation and decision-making. It enhances cognitive abilities, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills through activities like drawing, painting, and sculpting.

Engaging in art boosts children’s self-confidence and self-esteem as they see their ideas come to life and receive recognition for their artistic achievements. Children learning art enhances their holistic development, fostering creativity, self-expression, cognitive skills, empathy, and self-confidence, vital for personal growth and future success.

How our art classes operate:

All students begin with Arty Monkey’s sketching class, guided by experienced instructors. They explore, refine skills, and broaden artistic horizons through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, learning sketching fundamentals like composition, perspective, and shading.

The class allows experimenting with various mediums like graphite, charcoal, and ink to develop unique styles and techniques. Collaborative activities and group critiques create a supportive community for valuable feedback, idea exchange, and artistic growth.

After sketching, we move on to painting, creating a masterpiece over 3-5 weeks. We avoid rushing, guiding students step by step while allowing their creative journeys.

In holiday classes, we emphasize craft. Sessions range from 3-5 days, leading to a final project. Previous sessions included making papier-mâché faces and designing detailed works inspired by famous architects for older students.
